Thanks to its unusual shape and extra-wide sloping back rest, two people can relax and enjoy a completely new feeling of togetherness as they bathe side by side. The Plaza Duo, the brainchild of Phoenix Design design studio of Stuttgart/Tokyo, has everything that is required to make it perfect for a shared bathing experience – whether in a domestic bathroom oasis or in the SPA area of a hotel for discriminating connoisseurs.

Pleasure side by side
Being able to bathe side by side is described by many couples as the idealised form of shared bathing pleasure. This was the result of a depth psychological study carried out by the renowned rheingold Institute in Cologne on behalf of Kaldewei which, in 2006, thoroughly investigated the ever-increasing trend of shared bathing. The study also made clear that bathing with a friend is important, above all, in maintaining a relationship. It is not the erotic components which are important but more the feeling of a new intimacy and harmony. The new Plaza Duo double bath with the Kaldewei waterfall bath inlet, which the company is presenting for the first time, was developed on the basis of these results and is thus the first Kaldewei double bath which has been specially designed to meet the requirements of devotees of shared bathing pleasures.

The discriminating and eye-catching design of the Plaza Duo, which is part of the Avantgarde product segment, is based on the fascinating concept of bathing “side by side” which has been very successfully interpreted by Phoenix Design. The result is evident in the special shape of the double bath, which seems to veritably adapt to the movements of the bathers and allows them to assume a wide range of bathing positions. Taking the anatomy of the human body as its starting point, the interior shape of the Plaza Duo is amorphously rounded. The gentle interior contours of the bath, which is tapered towards the foot end, are in stark yet visually attractive contrast to the straight lines of the external contours. With a length of 180 centimetres, and a width of 120 centimetres in the shoulder region and 80 centimetres at the foot end, as well as a depth of 43 centimetres, the Plaza Duo guarantees exceptional bathing comfort for perfect togetherness in the bath. The new Kaldewei waterfall bath inlet which is harmoniously integrated into the inside wall of the bath enhances this comfort even further because there is no tap to get in the way of shared bathing pleasure.
