Sustainable future with KALDEWEI
Our current economic system, which is based on “take-make-waste”, has no future. The scarcity of resources, environmental pollution and continued greenhouse gas emissions are no longer sustainable. The solution? A transformation to a circular economy. Raw materials are reused at the end of their useful life – without any loss of quality or quantity.
For over 100 years we have been working with the material for sanitary products that perfectly meets these requirements: KALDEWEI steel enamel. At the end of their long product life, steel and glass products can be 100% recycled.
Certified sustainability: Cradle to Cradle Certified®
We have been certified in order to offer our customers greater security with regard to sustainability and to utilise this in the project business in particular. KALDEWEI is the first supplier of bathtubs, shower trays and washbasins to be awarded a Cradle to Cradle® certificate. All KALDEWEI steel enamel products in these categories are certified according to V4.0 in silver in alpine white. This includes almost 600 different items, including the most popular “classics” for private bathrooms and for project business.

Cradle to Cradle: Consistent circular economy without waste
Cradle to Cradle® certification is a globally recognised multi-attribute standard that promotes a healthy, equitable and sustainable future. The certification process looks at five areas: Material health, recyclability, clean air and climate protection, water and soil protection as well as social fairness. So not only the products are audited, but the entire company.

How does the certification work?
Each of the five categories is classified into one of four levels (bronze, silver, gold, platinum).
The overall certification is based on the lowest rating in one of the five categories.
The silver certification represents an ambitious entry as an initial certification. The four levels of Cradle to Cradle® certification include successive requirements and aim to support companies on their way to becoming sustainability pioneers. The silver certification is therefore not a final result, but the beginning of a continuous process in the Cradle to Cradle® system. We are working to achieve further innovations and progress with the recertification in 2028.
