KALDEWEI, Ahlen, June 2022 – At this year’s Fuorisalone in Milan, KALDEWEI is celebrating the equally luxurious and intimate beauty of bathroom culture. KALDEWEI has teamed up with VOGUE Germany for the extraordinary appearance from 7 to 12 June. The premium bathroom manufacturer and the legendary fashion magazine are jointly presenting the “Bathscape” installation, designed by Milan star designer Cristina Celestino. The collaboration is already considered one of the highlights of this year’s special edition of the furniture fair – #mustsee2022.
A private spa, a glamorous relaxation room and an intimate retreat for very personal “me time” moments - our bathroom today has so many facets. Cristina Celestino builds on this in her installation: the title “Bathscape” plays on the English verb “escape”. In this way, Celestino’s work becomes a kind of aesthetic escape for the beholder into the dazzling splendour of modern bathroom culture. For the Milanese designer, the project is also sculptural research into the multifaceted aspects of bathroom furnishings. The spectrum of topics ranges from aesthetic questions about sensual perception and the luxury of relaxation for Daily Beauty to aspects of sustainability and resource conservation.
Descriptive material concepts also illustrate the role that the choice of material plays in the feel. With a fashion and beauty expert like VOGUE Germany, the bridge to the design and furnishing of the perfect self-care area is also ensured. Which storage location is best for our night serum, where should the new beauty gadget be placed? Bathscape shows how all these choices can transform our bathroom into a very personal Home Spa.
What makes the modern bathroom an oasis where you can recharge your batteries and relax? And how important are ecological and social aspects? Against the background of these complex questions, “Bathscape” creates the basis for a highly topical dialogue and at the same time presents exciting approaches for a contemporary, luxurious bathroom design. This is precisely why the installation will be shown in the vibrant Brera district (via Maroncelli 2), which is known for its multitude of design studios and galleries, throughout the duration of the Milan Furniture Fair.
